About the Wayfarer

I've wanted to create a travel blog for a long time, way before it became a trend. My only regret after traveling for passion and pleasure for nearly two decades was that I did not think to document and share my experiences. Since 1997, I've made a pilgrimage somewhere, anywhere to bask in the beauty of this Earth, exploring different cultures, sampling very different foods and just pondering how lucky I am to travel at will. In nearly 19 years, I've travel to over 35 cities internationally spanning over 20 countries with this desire and the hope to see the Seven Great Wonders of the World (among others) in my lifetime.

You may ask, what makes my travel different from the thousands of bloggers on the internet and social media engines? Well, I am a female traveler, traveling alone. Solo. I measure 5 feet in height, a petite African-American woman who traveled to Mexico, Europe, India and Asia alone! While I enjoy traveling with a companion, family or friends, I find traveling solo to be a very rewarding and invigorating experience. I am able to explore at my own pace, on my own time and my own way. More importantly, I've determined how to do this safely and confidently as a single female of color in a strange, new place.

Therefore the purpose of this blog is to give you, the traveler, my perspective and a few pointers if you decide to take a trip alone. Perhaps you have reservations about traveling to a predominately male-driven city, or a country where everyone looks different than you. This will be my insight on how to comfortably blend in and feel safe abroad as a solo female traveler. I hope I inspire you and welcome you to my blog: A Petite and Solo Wayfarer
